The USN N-1 was based on the commercial version manufactured and sold to civilians.
The lining is made of high-density jungle cloth and alpaca mohair wool, which are excellent in wind resistance and water repellency.
The outer fabric, which features ridges on the surface, is made excellent at keeping out the cold and retaining heat by weaving the weft threads to the maximum possible density.
The distinctive leather trim at the pocket openings is a design that can also be seen on car coats and lunch coats from the 1930s.
The underarms on the back are made of poplin fabric to reduce thickness and have a wider cut than usual.
The cuff ribbing, commissioned from a long-established factory founded in 1948, uses 100% wool ring ribbing.
It provides a moderate tightening.
We have reviewed various aspects, such as the appropriate tightness, the metal fasteners at the end of the drawcord, and the piping on the chin strap.
Washing the product after production creates puckering and eliminates the stiffness of the fabric.

Jungle cloth was developed based on the fabric used in vintage deck jackets.
By weaving the weft threads at a high density close to the limit of what the loom can handle, we have achieved extremely high durability and a hard texture.
It is thick and strong, and the fabric develops a unique character with repeated wear and use, allowing you to enjoy the ruggedness and aging that is unique to vintage military clothing.

Based on the vintage N-1 deck jacket, this item is made in Takanoguchi, Japan, a producer of boa and fur.
It has excellent heat retention, is resistant to pilling, and feels very good against the skin.
