This 1940s USN deck vest is based on the commercial version manufactured and sold to civilians.
This weapon material is made with a 36/2 warp and 24/2 weft double yarn, and is woven on an old-fashioned shuttle loom to the same specifications as the uniforms of the U.S. Army's West Point Military Academy. The double yarn gives it a strong body and elegant luster.
Like the classic 40 Civilian Trousers , it comes in two colors: a weapon-dyed slate gray and a vintage-like khaki with a reddish tint.
The lining is entirely made of rare white baby alpaca. The fibers are much finer than regular alpaca, and are characterized by a smooth, moist, and exquisite feel. The fibers are also less irritating, so even those who don't like the prickly feeling of wool can wear it comfortably.
The front zipper uses a U-shaped TALON fastener.
The armholes are deep to prevent interference around the sleeves.
The wash process creates natural puckering throughout, giving it a vintage look. The soft feel conforms to the body nicely and can also be worn as an inner vest under outerwear. It's useful all season long.
