This vest is made from beach cloth, a material that was popular among workers in harsh environments.
This garment is knitted using a rare Russell machine in Oshu, a wool-producing region.
We have created a unique, heavier-weight product based on materials developed 100 years ago, a time of great ingenuity.
The surface is made of beach cloth fabric, commonly known as "sesame salt," which is made by twisting together two colors of yarn dyed with different counts.
It is characterized by the irregular unevenness and textured appearance created by the fabric.
The two-layer structure of Russell knit and wool fleece on the back is made of the same material as a sweatshirt.
The fleece on the back side makes up about 70% of the total product, and the strong brushing gives it a durability that you wouldn't expect from a knit product.
In order to reproduce the production methods of that time, it is knitted using only cotton and wool, creating a thick, highly cold-resistant material.
The original snap buttons with Dahl plating were made specially for this item.
It has the same nipple type and 4-split design as the original.
Dahl plating is a process that allows you to enjoy the changes that occur over the years as the metal becomes worn and the copper color of the base becomes apparent.
It features an iconic deformed patch pocket on the front and a cinch back.
The collar is slightly narrow to allow for layering with a shirt.
Piping is done in various places with cotton herringbone tape.
