The A-1 knit was issued to the United States Army Air Corps (USAAF) during World War II.
Available in two colors: black and dark olive.
The finished product has a look that evokes the good old vintage wool knit.
The fabric is made from British syrupshire wool yarn, which gives it a high wool density and soft elasticity.
This garment is extremely soft to the touch and feels warm against the skin.
The distinctive V-neck design around the neck is set shallow to allow for layering with a shirt.
The knitting direction of the yoke, cuffs and hem has been changed to reduce the stretchiness that is typical of knitwear.
It also serves as a design accent, but it is a detail that is unique to military items for a reason.
