This is an updated version of a famous product from the 1950s when climbing the Karakoram Mountains.
Woven from 60% cotton and 40% nylon, commonly known as 60/40 cloth.
Known as grosgrain, it is characterized by its horizontal ridges, and by using a fine warp thread and a thick weft thread and weaving it tightly and densely, it creates horizontal irregularities and makes for a thick, sturdy fabric.
As the cotton weft absorbs water and expands, the gaps between the threads become clogged, making it difficult for water to pass through, and the water-repellent properties of the nylon repel the water .
It has the breathability unique to cotton, so it prevents moisture and stuffiness caused by sweating and has excellent moisture permeability.
The down is supplied by Kawada Feather Co., a long-established company specialising in feathers, founded in 1891 (Meiji 24).
